Why become a civil servant?
Officials are vital to GothCon, without them we would not be able to hold the convention every year.
As an official with us, you get to be part of a community that gives its all over a weekend to unite people over their shared love of traditional games. You get to do this in exchange for a variety of rewards such as free entry and merch. It's also a chance to meet new friends with common interests; a chance to work for the immeasurable value of making someone happy and last but not least a chance to play a lot of games!

Do you have any difficulties working with certain tasks? Don't be afraid to apply anyway! At GothCon there is room for everyone, if you contact us we will be able to solve something.

About the work
When you arrive at GothCon, you should report to the official check-in in the reception building. There you will be registered and the staff will help you get started.
As an official at GothCon, it is important that you arrive on time for your shifts and bring a good mood with you. You will receive information and instructions from your shift leaders that you need to take into account. Can't make it to one of your assigned shifts? Notify the HR manager as soon as possible.
During the entire time you work at GothCon, you must wear the staff shirt or other work clothes provided to you at the convention.
Depending on the area, the work may require a high pace and physical effort. Since it is an event with a lot of people, there is also a higher volume than usual. Bring water, snacks, warm clothes to wear under the staff shirt and comfortable shoes. We have a staff room where you are welcome to stay during breaks that is separate from the rest of the guests.

Pass
A shift as an official at GothCon is usually 4 hours long. A cleaning shift is 3 hours long, but is worth just as much as a regular shift.
NOTE: If you are present for the entire final day on both Sunday and Monday, this corresponds to 3 work shifts.
Rewards
Depending on how many shifts you work, you will receive different rewards. Before you start your first shift, you will receive a staff shirt. You will wear this for the entire time you work at the convention.
Below is a list of what you get for each shift you work.
An important reward is food, for every shift you work regardless of what official role you have, game director, event assistant or official, you will receive a coupon. The coupon gives you a discount in our kiosk or mojj. You will see the exact value on site as it is adjusted to fit today's prices.

Area descriptions
Below is a list of our work areas, roughly what duties they entail and when during the convention they are needed.
Log in
Thursday before the convention until all rooms are logged in
In order for us to be able to open dormitories for participants as quickly as possible and clean up after the convention, we need to take an inventory of where everything was. Loggers are therefore tasked with going through, sketching out, and registering all the rooms we use during the convention.
It is important that you bring a snack. It will be a long day for both staff and officials and we never know when we will get a chance to eat. If you do not pre-register, we cannot promise that we will be able to provide you with anything extra.
Clean
During the convention
As a cleaning officer at GothCon, the main task is to make sure that the halls, corridors and toilets we use look neat and clean.
There will be house managers with an overall situational awareness who will inform the cleaning staff of what needs to be done in the different houses. The meeting point is outside the reception and cafeteria building.
Café
From Thursday afternoon and throughout the convention
There is always something to do in the café and the tasks are varied. There is a wide variety of shifts as the café is open from early morning to late evening.
As a café employee, you will stock our refrigerators and sales areas, man the cash register, make toast to order, answer questions and make sure there is always coffee ready. Everyone helps to keep the café clean and tidy. You may also be asked to step in and help other departments in the service department when needed, but always in agreement between the café manager and the employee.
In the café it is important that you are a team player, that you can take instructions effectively and that you can interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner. You need to be prepared for the work pace to vary and at times be high.

Kitchen
During the convention
As a kitchen worker, you support the kitchen managers in their work and mainly perform simpler tasks such as making stir-fries, baguettes, sandwiches, smoothies, etc. for the café. Keeping the kitchen clean and safe is also a central part of the job. You can also assist the kitchen managers with cooking for the guests.
In the kitchen, we prepare food in large quantities, which requires the ability to handle large recipes and follow specific instructions, for example when using commercial kitchen utensils. Good hygiene practices are important to avoid contamination and ensure that food is safe to eat.
Working in a commercial kitchen can sometimes be physically demanding but also creatively satisfying. There are opportunities to develop skills in cooking, leadership and logistics. The pace of work can vary and at times be fast.
As the food often has to be served at specific times, it is important that our kitchen managers can plan and organize work to meet important deadlines.
My
During the convention
As a functionary in Mojjen, you will work to keep our hot food service running for hungry visitors, organizers, staff members, etc. In Mojjen, your duties will involve either working at the cash register or serving food. Together with the Mojj manager, you will ensure that the service area is clean and tidy and that there is order and order. Some cleaning and washing dishes is part of the job.
The first session of the day begins with preparations before Mojjen opens for the day. The last shift of the day ends with cleaning up after closing and putting Mojjen in order before going home.
What's fun about Mojjen is that you get the opportunity to meet a lot of people and make them happy as we focus a lot on good service! As a clerk, you need to be prepared for the fact that the work pace can vary and at times be high.
Reception
From Thursday afternoon and throughout the convention
The reception is the first port of call for visitors to the convention. We who work at the reception have a good attitude, are thorough and manage to be pleasant despite the sometimes somewhat stressful work environment. The duties include answering people's questions, checking in visitors and helping with account registrations. We also take care of found/lost items. If you've been to the convention before and know how it works, that's a bonus.
Merch
During the convention 5h session 10-15 and 15-20
We need a couple of social and happy staff here. The job will be to meet customers, manage the cash register, replenish goods and help with inventory and distribution of merch.
Auction
2:30 PM – 9:00 PM on Saturday
Auction duties include carrying auction items from the stage to the buyer and handling cash/exchange between buyer and cashier.
Final city
Sunday afternoon/Monday after the convention
At the final cleanup, we go through all the premises we have been in, clean up after ourselves and make sure that everything is where it should be according to the floor plans from intlogg. The final cleanup continues until we are finished. If there are a lot of us, it goes quickly and as a bonus you are invited to food and receive various final cleanup loot.
If you work the entire final shift (Sunday + Monday), you can count 3 work shifts. However, you should keep in mind that you cannot use your rewards for food during the convention, but you will receive food during the shift and will be able to participate in the final shift dinner.

Other data
During the convention
There are a few other tasks during the convention, such as resource in the café, a task that is more varied. You clean when necessary, otherwise you help in the café or reception where needed. Then we have a shop that sells Gothcon products, here we need a few people who like to sell, be nice and social.
These cannot be clicked in as optional information as there are so few places, but where there is space for free text, write if any of this is desired and we will look at the possibilities!
