Test your skills in "The Ascended City".
Come by the hall, grab a table, and try to fight your way out of the city, past the monoliths and sky chains to finally reach the silver city – or fall to the deepest depths of the dark netherworld.
The card game can be played by 1-5 players.
This card game is under development by Two Crows Games and is basically based on "Scoundrels" (a dungeon crawl that normally uses a standard deck of cards).
In this version, the rules have been expanded to emphasize fun storytelling and a little more chance - now played in a wacky fantasy world.

There are tons of games you'll be introduced to at conventions that you could just as easily play with regular playing cards. In this drop-in activity, you'll learn some of them. Expect familiar favorites, but with a slightly different look.
In addition to the games you may already know, we'll be teaching newly designed card games that use only a standard deck of cards, as well as a few games we think most people have missed. There's everything from team games to free-for-all, cooperative games and solitaires. Come alone or bring a bunch of friends.
If you're really nice, you can even play games that use different decks of cards.
Hopefully, you'll leave us with one or two new favorites to play whenever there's a deck nearby. And most of the time, it does.
The event is part of Materialist Game Lab's offering at GothCon. We want to look at gaming culture with new eyes and try to find ways to make it more fair, welcoming and accessible. All in the hope that together we build a vibrant gaming culture rather than a commercial hobby.
Thom Király is a game designer and game educator based in Malmö. He will act as a cicerone on the journey through misers' attempts to use their 52 friends to avoid stuffing the game shelf full of games that actually work just as well with standard cards.

Magic: the Gathering
Easter, a holy weekend for those of us who like traditions! It's of course Magic the whole weekend - it's old-fashioned.
We will crown Swedish champions in three different formats. Standard(!), Vintage and Duel Commander! Three people will qualify for the Regional Championships through our RCQs and TWO(!) lucky players will also qualify for the European Legacy Masters where they will represent Sweden in the Swedish team! We have the popular team competitions team-sealed and team trios (with a twist: modern/legacy/duel commander). And of course the Easter Championships in Premodern! There is something for everyone.
This year, just like last year, Magicen will be held at Landala sports hall where we will set up more than 200 seats! Magicen will be held a couple of hundred meters from Hvitfeldtska.
You don't have to buy a ticket to GothCon to play in any of our tournaments. But if you do, you'll be supporting GothCon a little extra and will also receive a discount on all the tournaments you play.
Mindstage is giving away prizes worth tens of thousands of kronor spread across our various tournaments! You compete for "GothCoins", a form of tickets that you can use to buy exactly what you want in the Mindstage store on site. There you will find everything from boosters to exclusive magic cards. Either you take a little something small, or you collect it for something bigger over the entire Easter weekend! Maybe an uncut foil sheet or an oversize card?
Just like before, you can come in and play our magic events without having purchased a GothCon ticket. However, if you have paid for a ticket to GothCon, you will receive a discount on the events you play. This means that if you only want to play a single tournament, you can do so without it being particularly expensive!
